The double-column motorized force gauge test stands are designed to perform tension and compression force tests on components subjected to medium and high loads. Their reinforced structure provides stability during force application and helps maintain correct alignment between the load cell, sample and fastening systems.
Three models are available, with maximum capacities of 10, 20 and 30 kN. Selection depends on the expected force during the test, sample dimensions and the margin required to manage possible load peaks.
The double-column configuration provides greater rigidity than a single-column test stand and makes it possible to work with high loads while limiting structural deflection and misalignment. This makes the stands suitable for breakage, compression, tension, insertion, extraction and detachment tests on industrial components and mechanical assemblies.
The system is used with SADFGE-P external load cell digital force gauges. The load cell is installed on the upper crosshead, while the sample is positioned on the working platform and connected using clamps, adaptors or fixtures selected according to the test requirements.
With S-type load cells, force can be measured in both tension and compression. For compression-only tests, round R-type or compact MR-type load cells can be used, selecting the most suitable geometry and capacity according to the applied load and available space.
Motorized movement allows the load to be applied at an adjustable speed, improving test uniformity compared with manual operation. Controlled speed is particularly useful when different samples must be compared, the same check repeated or the behaviour of the component observed progressively during deformation, failure or breakage.
The test stand can operate in manual or automatic mode. In manual mode, the operator controls platform movement directly. In automatic mode, the required number of cycles can be set to subject the sample to repeated tension and compression loads. The counter displays both the programmed cycles and the completed cycles.
Adjustable limit switches make it possible to define the travel required for the test and maintain consistent operating conditions during repeated checks. The combination of adjustable speed, guided movement and double-column construction helps reduce operator influence.
These test stands can also be used to verify crimping force where high loads are involved. When combined with a correctly sized load cell and suitable tooling, they allow the force generated during deformation and tightening of terminals on cables, connectors and similar components to be measured. For crimping checks within the range intended for dedicated applications, a specific crimping test stand is also available.
Depending on the application, the structure can be completed with clamps, compression plates, hooks, adaptors and sample-holding systems. Accessories must hold the component securely and transfer force along the load-cell axis, avoiding torsion and lateral loads that could affect the measurement.
Double-column test stands are suitable for production departments, testing laboratories, research activities and quality-control applications where accurate measurements must be carried out at high loads under controlled and repeatable test conditions.

FAQ – Double-column motorized force gauge test stands
What is a double-column motorized force gauge test stand used for?
It is used to perform tension and compression force tests at medium and high loads while keeping the measuring system stable and aligned.
Which capacities are available?
Three models are available, with maximum capacities of 10, 20 and 30 kN.
What is the advantage of the double-column structure?
The double-column design increases rigidity and stability, which are particularly important when high loads are applied.
Which force gauges can be used with the test stand?
The stands are configured for use with SADFGE-P external load cell digital force gauges.
Can the test stand operate in both tension and compression?
Yes. Test direction depends on the installed load cell, platform movement and accessory configuration.
Can movement speed be adjusted?
Yes. Speed adjustment allows movement to be adapted to the sample and helps maintain more consistent conditions between successive tests.
Can cyclic tests be programmed?
Yes. In automatic mode, the required number of cycles can be set before the test begins.
Is the test stand suitable for crimping-force checks?
Yes. It can be used to verify crimping force at high loads, with a load cell and tooling suitable for the geometry of the terminal and cable.
Can it be used for breakage tests?
Yes. The structure is suitable for detecting the load reached during breakage or failure of components, joints and assemblies.
Can insertion and extraction tests be carried out?
Yes. With suitable clamps and adaptors, the stand can measure the force required to insert or remove assembled components.
What are the adjustable limit switches used for?
They define platform travel according to the test configuration and the useful test stroke.
Does the test stand measure force directly?
No. Force is measured by the force gauge and external load cell. The stand moves the system and applies the load to the sample.
Why is correct alignment between the load cell and sample important?
Correct alignment allows force to be applied along the intended axis, limiting torsion and lateral stresses that could affect the measurement.
