Digital anemometers for air velocity and flow measurement – SA4836C / SA4836V

Digital anemometers make it possible to monitor air velocity and other parameters useful for checks on ventilation, ducts, systems, outdoor activities and wind conditions. The range includes two configurations designed for different requirements: a model with a vane sensor, suitable for measurements on airflows and ducts, and a model with a cup probe and wind-direction sensor.

Both instruments measure air velocity, temperature, flow rate, Beaufort scale and wave height. They can therefore be used both for technical checks on ventilation and refrigeration systems and for outdoor inspections where wind intensity needs to be assessed.

The choice between the two anemometers mainly depends on the environment and the data to be collected: the vane sensor is suitable for airflow checks, while the system with cup probe and wind-direction measurement extends monitoring to weather conditions and outdoor measurements.

Vane anemometer for ventilation and ducts

The anemometer with a vane probe is suitable for measuring air velocity and flow rate in ventilation ducts, air-treatment systems, refrigeration systems and checks on extraction or supply air.

Airflow measurement is useful for monitoring the volume of air moved within a duct. To obtain this value, the instrument considers the measured velocity and the cross-section of the duct being checked. It is therefore particularly useful for maintenance activities on HVAC systems, industrial ventilation, local extraction systems and air-distribution ducts.

In addition to velocity and flow rate, the anemometer also measures air temperature, Beaufort scale and wave height. Its internal memory stores groups of measurements for later recall on the instrument, while the Max function displays the highest value detected during the check.

Cup anemometer with wind-direction measurement

The anemometer with a cup probe is designed for checks where, in addition to air velocity, wind direction also needs to be known. The dedicated probe detects the origin of the airflow over 360°, making the instrument suitable for weather monitoring, navigation, outdoor activities and wind-condition assessment in open areas.

The ability to read velocity, direction, Beaufort scale and estimated wave height provides a more complete picture of current conditions. It can be used, for example, for nautical checks, in ports, in wind-exposed areas, during technical inspections or for checks related to weather conditions and operational safety.

Like the vane model, it also measures air temperature and flow rate. This makes it suitable for technical applications where airflow needs to be monitored together with the other available parameters.

Memory and PC connection

Both anemometers have internal memory for storing groups of measurements and recalling them later on the display. This function is useful for comparing readings taken at different points, at different times or during periodic checks.

With optional cable and software, the instruments can be connected to a PC for data collection. The data output allows connection to software for data collection, improving traceability and reducing transcription errors in quality-control processes.

Which anemometer should you choose

The SA4836V model with vane probe is suitable when the check focuses on air velocity and flow rate in ducts, ventilation systems, refrigeration systems and air-distribution channels.

The SA4836C model with cup probe is the more suitable choice when wind direction also needs to be monitored in addition to wind velocity. It is particularly suitable for outdoor measurements, weather conditions, navigation and checks where wind behaviour needs to be assessed more comprehensively.

Calibration report available on request, to accompany the anemometers with metrological documentation useful for internal checks and for monitoring their status over time.

FAQ – Digital anemometers

What does a digital anemometer measure?
A digital anemometer measures air velocity. Depending on the model, it can also measure airflow, temperature, wind direction, Beaufort scale and estimated wave height.

What is the difference between a vane anemometer and a cup anemometer?
A vane anemometer is mainly suitable for checking air velocity and flow rate in ducts, ventilation and refrigeration systems. The cup model also measures wind direction and is more suitable for outdoor checks and weather or nautical applications.

What is airflow measurement used for?
Flow rate indicates the volume of air moved over a specific period of time. It is useful for checking ducts, ventilation systems, extraction systems and air-treatment installations.

Can an anemometer be used in ventilation ducts?
Yes, the vane model is suitable for checking air velocity and flow rate in ducts, provided that the duct cross-section is correctly considered in the measurement.

Does an anemometer also measure air temperature?
Yes, both models also measure air temperature, which is useful for completing the assessment of conditions at the measuring point.

What is the Beaufort scale?
The Beaufort scale is a classification of wind intensity. The anemometer displays it as additional information alongside the measured velocity.

Does the cup-probe model measure wind direction?
Yes, the cup-probe model has a dedicated sensor for measuring wind direction over 360°.

Can measurements be saved?
Yes, the anemometers have internal memory for storing groups of readings and recalling them later on the display.

Can the anemometers be connected to a PC?
Yes, with optional cable and software they can be connected to a PC for data collection.

Is a calibration report available for the anemometers?
Yes, a calibration report is available on request.
