Digital multimeters – SAMU6010 / SAMU6020 / SAMU6050

Digital multimeters combine the functions of a voltmeter, ammeter and ohmmeter in one instrument, making it possible to carry out checks on voltage, current and resistance. Depending on the model, they can also measure capacitance, frequency, duty cycle and temperature, as well as perform continuity checks and diode tests.

They are useful instruments for electrical maintenance, technical service, testing, and checks on panels, power supplies, equipment, systems and electronic components. The availability of several functions within the same digital multimeter makes it possible to carry out different checks without relying on separate single-function instruments.

Three models are available, selected according to the measurements required, the level of detail needed and the need to collect data on a PC.

The SAMU6010 is suitable for complete electrical checks on AC/DC voltage and current, resistance, capacitance, frequency, duty cycle and temperature. It also includes continuity and diode-test functions, making it suitable when a versatile multimeter is required for routine checks on circuits and equipment.

The SAMU6020 adds the True RMS function, non-contact voltage detection, Min/Max values and data output. True RMS calculates the true effective value of AC current or voltage: it is useful when the signal does not have a regular sinusoidal waveform, as may occur with certain power supplies, motors, inverters or electronic equipment.

The SAMU6050 is the version to choose when higher resolution, a dual display and the possibility of viewing two temperature measurements are required. It features two T1 and T2 channels, which are useful for comparing temperatures measured at different points, and also includes True RMS, Min/Max values and data output.

The SAMU6020 and SAMU6050 models are supplied with cable and software. The data output allows connection to software for measurement data collection, improving traceability and reducing transcription errors in quality-control processes.

The choice of digital multimeter therefore depends on the actual application. The SAMU6010 is suitable for general electrical checks; the SAMU6020 is useful when True RMS, non-contact voltage detection and data collection are required; the SAMU6050 is suitable when the check requires higher resolution, comparison between two temperatures and simultaneous display of values.

Calibration report available on request, to accompany the digital multimeter with metrological documentation useful for internal checks and for monitoring its status over time.

FAQ – Digital multimeters

What is a digital multimeter used for?
A digital multimeter is used to measure different electrical parameters with a single instrument, including voltage, current and resistance. Depending on the model, it can also measure capacitance, frequency, temperature and duty cycle.

What is the difference between a voltmeter, ammeter and ohmmeter?
A voltmeter measures voltage, an ammeter measures current and an ohmmeter measures resistance. A multimeter combines these functions in the same instrument.

Which model should be selected for general electrical checks?
The SAMU6010 is suitable for checks on voltage, current, resistance, capacitance, frequency, duty cycle and temperature, as well as continuity and diode testing.

What does True RMS mean?
True RMS indicates the function that calculates the true effective value of AC voltage or current. It is useful when the waveform is not perfectly sinusoidal, as it provides a reading that is more representative of the actual value.

Which digital multimeter features the True RMS function?
The True RMS function is available on the SAMU6020 and SAMU6050 models.

Which model detects the presence of voltage without contact?
The SAMU6020 features non-contact voltage detection, which is useful for identifying the presence of an electrical field without directly connecting the test leads to the circuit.

When should the SAMU6050 be selected?
The SAMU6050 is suitable when higher resolution, a dual display and the possibility of comparing two temperature measurements through the T1 and T2 channels are required.

Can the multimeters be connected to software?
The SAMU6020 and SAMU6050 feature data output and are supplied with cable and software for collecting measurements on a PC.

Is a calibration report available?
Yes, a calibration report is available on request.
