Analog force gauges – SAFG

The analog force gauges are portable instruments designed to measure forces applied in tension and compression. Direct dial reading allows the measured value to be checked quickly, making them suitable for both laboratory controls and measurements performed directly in the field.

The range includes different measuring capacities to meet various control requirements. The dial features two scales, in Newton and kgf, allowing the result to be read immediately without conversions during the test.

The force gauge can be used in instantaneous mode to observe force variation while the load is applied. The Peak Hold function keeps the maximum value reached visible, making it particularly useful in tests where force increases progressively to a peak and then decreases, such as opening, extraction, actuation or component-failure checks.

The supplied adaptors allow the instrument to be configured according to the test direction. The tension side can be used to measure pulling, detachment or extraction forces, while the compression side is used for push, pressure or actuation checks.

The supplied extension helps reach points where it is not possible to work directly with the body of the instrument. Before measurement, zero can be checked after fitting the selected adaptor or accessory.

Depending on sample geometry and the type of control, the instrument can be combined with clamps, grips, compression plates and other force-testing accessories, allowing the most suitable gripping or contact system to be configured for the application.

Calibration report available on request.

FAQ – Analog force gauges

What is an analog force gauge used for?
It is used to measure a force applied in tension or compression. It can be used, for example, to check pushing, pulling, opening, closing, insertion or extraction forces.

Can an analog force gauge measure both tension and compression?
Yes. The instrument has two separate measuring sides according to the direction of force to be checked.

How does Peak Hold work?
The Peak Hold function keeps the maximum value reached visible on the dial during the test. It is useful when the load rises to a peak that may be difficult to read directly while the force is changing.

Which units are used to display force?
The dial has scales in Newton and kgf, allowing the result to be read directly in the unit most suitable for the control.

How should the correct measuring capacity be selected?
The capacity should be selected according to the maximum force expected during the test, maintaining an adequate margin above the anticipated value.

Can clamps or other accessories be used?
Yes. Depending on the sample, clamps, grips, compression plates and specific accessories can be used for tension, compression, pushing or pulling tests.

Why is it important to keep the force gauge aligned with the sample?
A non-axial force application can generate lateral stresses and affect the reading. The instrument and the sample should therefore be kept along the same axis.

When should zero be checked?
Zero should be checked before the test, preferably after fitting the adaptor or accessory and positioning the instrument in its intended direction of use.

Is a calibration report available?
Yes. A calibration report is available on request.
