SA7825P - Portable moisture meters
This instrument is an N.D.T. for moisture detection inside a wide range of materials. There are many types of measurers on the market, they can be divided in contact instruments(they measure the dieletric characteristic of woods) and in piling (PIN – they measure the resistance between two electrodes)
Humidity is the water percentage inside a material and depending on its level it can compromise production process, physical characteristics and have important parameters on manteinance and quality control.
Contact Instruments - Search Type – (SA7825PS/SA7825S). They allow depth measures thanks to generated electric field. Measured value is an humidity average value calculated with decreasing sensibility on depth increasing.
Instruments with in piling probe – PIN type – (SA7825PS/SA7825P):The measure electric resistance between two electrodes .The value is taken in the space between them , at the piling depth.
Measured value is the maximum humidity detected between electrodes.
Piling mode is more indicated when…
Material has humidity lower than 8-10%,not damage the material ,wood surface has been soaked by frost, quick multiple measures.
Contact mode is more indicated when…
Material has humidity above 20-30%,thickness lower than 2cm and it’s not possible to stack more layers without air gaps.
Probably humidity isn’t uniformly distributed , measure velocity and material damage are secondary to accuracy requested.
Accuracy
Due to non-homogeneous nature of woods, instruments performance can’t be ensured on different samples different from those tested, even if they are from the same species.
